Project Summary

Introduction

The National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association (CASA), together with its state and local member programs, supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy so every abused or neglected child in the United States can be safe, have a permanent home and the opportunity to thrive.

CASA’s Nashville Chapter stands up for abused and neglected children. Every day, CASA’s volunteers speak for children in courts to ensure they find safe, permanent homes. 2014 marked their 30th year of advocating in courts to improve the lives of children, and they continue to work for the well-being of their community.

Early September, CASA Nashville decided their website needed refreshing, support for mobile devices and could use a more modern touch to represent their ongoing cause. That’s where Aloalabs came in.

Defining a New Look

CASA Nashville came to us with a simple request to redesign their website. Within a week, we selected and proposed new themes for their existing WordPress framework to not only aesthetically enhance their web presence, but also maintain their ability to modify the site and manage it as they wish.

After discussing the themes and each of their potential with the CASA team, we proceeded.

Building the New Site

Aloalabs believes in their clients and their freedom of choice and vision. We began by cloning the existing website content in its entirety to one of our own servers. This would guarantee the preservation of the old site in the event something goes wrong.

Unfortunately, something did go wrong. During the cloning process, the data we exported corrupted our servers (4 servers to be exact, we tried this 4 times). We had to restart and wipe the server clean, leaving us with no choice but to start from ground zero. With a fresh WordPress install and nothing else, our work began.

We installed the theme that the CASA team chose and proceeded to migrate content and data from the old website. We provided the CASA team with a link to the new server where their new website was hosted so that they may keep track of progress and changes instantaneously. Transparency and honesty are requirements for us, not value-add.

Delivering the Product

After two weeks of careful migration and redesign of the site layout, the first version of the site was completed and delivered to the CASA team for review.

“This is really, really great… based on browsing through all sections of the test website, this is way beyond my expectations,” was the team’s first reaction.

However, our job did not end there. The CASA team members asked questions about the site and requested changes here and there to cater to their wants and needs. We continued to implement and improve through cross-platform testing and eliminated all initial bugs that surfaced. While CASA requested only a few changes, we made more and more. This is a manifestation of the fact that Aloalabs is as passionate about their client’s work as they are.

Outcome

The final iteration of the newly launched website was completed within three weeks. The CASA team was extremely satisfied and said, “The fact that you put people first really showed in working with you on this project.” They loved how easy we made the process for them and our responsiveness. Since then, they’ve modified the site as they wished and made it their own along the way. That’s why we want to see more creation happen.

Work with us and see for yourself.

The fact that they put people first REALLY showed in working with them on this project.
